Save The Date - Green Gala

What's Green Gala?
Here's the Green Gala's Objective from their website: The Green Gala is a fundraising awards event that will celebrate the efforts of our local designers, builders, and community leaders. As the nation strives to become a sustainable design leader, the USGBC Hawaii Chapter would like to honor local pioneers that keep Hawaii aligned with this mission. This gala will not only create exposure to the honorees, it allows our members to meet chapter leaders, fellow membership, and connect with other green resources. Foremost, the chapter mission will gain visibility within our community and local government. We hope this gala will inspire and create momentum towards a greener built environment.

GOOO GREEN TEAM! (:

IdPro is going to help out with this event as a community service.

Shangri La Tour with ASID

The summer sun shone bright this morning as we borded the shuttle at the Honolulu Museum of Arts. Some of us strangers and others old friends, all ASID members we were there to experience one of Honolulu's most prized yet hidden gems, Doris Duke's Shangri La estate.

Located on Black Point, the estate is unassuming from the exterior but once you enter the foyer you are in another world. The interior drips with Islamic art, furniture and architectural features. Walking though the estate you could easily envision the elegant Ms. Duke lounging poolside or coolly welcoming one guest or another in the living room.

After the hour and a half tour we shuttled back to the museum for designer chat and lunch at the museum cafe (Big Island Goat Cheese Salad = AMAZING!)

All in all not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning. A big thanks to ASID Hawaii and Honolulu Museum of Arts for allowing this to possible!
